Spring has sprung...

Currently while we are experiencing the pollen laying on everything, don't let it keep you indoors as the fish are moving shallow. As the water temps are hovering around 60* the crappie are moving up and down due to the couple cold fronts we have had in the last week. As the air temps stable out over the few weeks the crappie will be extremely shallow holding to cover as they spawn and will be feeding aggressively. For now the majority can be found on brush & rock around that 10' depth as they transition. Some are likely to be in less water but tend to be smaller in size.

The spotted bass are feeding on baitfish aggressively on main lake points and secondary points going into creeks. Crawfish pattern baits entice them as well especially around docks and rocky shorelines. They love chasing alewives so larger baits would be a good choice for these mean predators.

Catfish are roaming the ledges that are adjacent to flats. Drifting or anchoring while chunking cut bait or live perch will present them what they are looking for.

Hybrid striped bass mainly concentrated from mid lake up towards the river as some will be making a run up river to "false spawn" . They are showing up there but not stacked yet as they are still scattered along main lake chasing bait around. if you locate large schools of bait then they will be nearby.

Take this time to get out and explore the different variety of marine life while enjoying the nice spring temperatures and just have fun!!!
