If you are looking to get in on that late fall crappie bite before the weather gets artic, then now is the perfect time to go out and load up on them. I search for brush or boulders in about 15'-20' and then once I find them, I use a Strike King Mr. Crappie Lighting Shad on a 1/32 oz jig head. The "secret" is to place a spit shot about a foot or two above the jig and as you cast beyond your target, the bait pendulums back through the fish at a natural presentation that they just can't stand. Remember with this technique to use light line and a shad color bait to trigger more bites.
Fall is a great time to be out on the water fishing and just remember to be safe as the water temps are getting cold.
Merry CHRISTmas to all,
Capt. Will
